METAPHYSICAL SITES

The images of Piazza San Marco are intended to refer to the pictorial style of Canaletto, but in contravention of the rules that the famous painter followed: precise stroke, miniaturized details, all perfectly in focus, but referring to the manipulation of reality that he pursued by changing the position of the buildings and opening up new views to create the perfect composition.

I re-read the most famous places he painted, in particular Piazza San Marco, with deliberately blurred and overexposed images, thus wanting to bring to the memory of those who observe the art of painting using the medium of photography.

Maestro Giorgio De Chirico represents what is beyond the physical appearance of reality; some of his works were characterized by the recurrence of essential architectures, proposed in unrealistic perspectives immersed in a transcendent and ghostly atmosphere. In the various metaphysical interiors, objects totally incongruous with respect to the context were painted in those years. The architecture of the places and those who live in them take on a new shape. In my photographic perception, places known to many are transformed by giving them a supernatural character. Reality is transformed by becoming impalpable and eternal.
